SkillGate's MyMentor is a sophisticated mentoring system that can help you manage your mentoring process and ensure that your staff find the best possible mentors to match their mentoring needs. It's easy to navigate and is highly customisable so it can be moulded to fit your organisation.
MyMentor is first and foremost a matching system. The system matches mentees with the best possible mentors based on their defined criteria to ensure your staff are supported effectively in their job role and career development.
Getting started:
The first step in the mentoring process requires potential mentors to create a personal resume or profile for themselves, focusing on their areas of expertise and interest.
Mentees can then request specific skills and characteristics for a potential mentor from a list of criteria defined by the organisation. Fields can include skills, subject areas of expertise, grade, location and protected characteristics, amongst others. The system will then use its algorithm to match mentor and mentee. Results will appear as a list, with the best match (via a % match) at the top of the list).
Once the mentee has selected a mentor, or mentors, they can introduce themselves and the mentoring process can begin.
Tracking progress:
Now that the mentor/mentee relationship is established, the status and progress of the process can be monitored on the progress page.
The majority of mentoring relationships are informal and involve one to one sessions and informal conversations. MyMentor allows for this, while still encouraging the mentee to update their progress in a more formal way via a meeting notes and objectives area where mentors, mentees and their managers can track progress.
A prompting email system can send mentees emails on a regular basis (frequency is customisable) reminding them to update their progress, as they continue through the mentoring process.
It is also possible for mentors to recommend further training from within SkillGate’s Infinity Library to support the mentoring journey. They can build time-bound learning pathways, including specific actions for the mentee to follow. Again, progress on these can all be viewed by the mentor and the mentee’s manager as well as by the mentees.
Once the mentoring relationship comes to an end, or objectives are met, the process can be completed with a record of the sign-off. SkillGate's coaching sign-off software can be used post-matching.
