27/07/2017  Online Safety and Cyber Awareness

We have updated this course to include the following changes:

  • Session 2 now includes more information about how damaging to an organisation a cyber attack or incident is.
  • Session 3 has been updated and renamed 'Types of Malware': Additions include information on Ransomware, Worms, Trojans, Adware.
  • Session 10 includes more information about emails being used to introduce viruses; the purpose of phishing emails; ransomware and how to protect yourself from it and what to do if you receive a suspicious email.
  • Session 13: The final test has three additional questions on ransomware, emails containing hyperlinks or attachments and emails requesting urgent action or payments.

21/06/2017  Anti-Money Laundering (including Money Laundering regulations 2017)

We have updated our general version and our tutorial for Housing Associations with details of the changes in the new Money Laundering Regulations 2017 that bring the UK in line with the EU Fourth Anti-Money Laundering directive. The new regulations come into force on 26th June. Key changes include:

  • changes to Customer Due Diligence
  • employee screening and training
  • investigation and enforcement
  • a greater focus on risk assessments

04/04/2017  Content update program starting 18/04/2017
We are pleased to announce the beginning of a new course content update project. This will involve the updating of both the content and the look and feel of many of our older courses. We will be releasing small groups of tutorials each week starting on the 18th of April. These weekly releases will each be based around a different theme. The first weeks theme will be delivering better appraisals, and will see the release of four tutorials; - Better appraisal techniques, - BOOST - A feedback technique, - SMART objectives, and - Delivering critical feedback. The wrong answer has been replaced and reads ‘Ask the attendees to repeat everything slowly so you can check you have recorded all opinions correctly.’

• Session 6 – Added note about the Commission’s review and report. 'The Independent Commission on Freedom of Information, established to review the Act and consider whether there is an appropriate balance between transparency, accountability and protection, published its report in March 2016. The Commission made 21 recommendations including:
- The right of access to information should be increased,
- Improvements in the clarity of the law and its interpretation should be made,
- That delays in resolving requests should be reduced.'

The following changes have been made to this course:
• Session 3 - Workbook – ‘What employees should do?’ section added a statement about Fourth Money Laundering Directive 2014 and implementation date 2017.
'The European Union’s Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive came into force on 26 June 2015. It requires European member states to update their respective money laundering laws in line with the new requirements by 26 June 2017.
The Directive includes some fundamental changes to the anti-money laundering procedures at law firms, including changes to CDD, a central register for beneficial owners and a focus on risk assessments.'
